A few months prior to this post, we at Ricci Vineyards had the pleasure of meeting Susan Morgan at our vineyard property. After a few hours chatting, and inevitably sipping on some wine, we came to discover that Susan was quite the entrepreneurial woman. In addition to being the purveyor of Elegant Cheese Cakes since the 1980s — a widely-known and distinguished distributor of dessert confections — she runs her own vacation rental just a short jaunt from the bustling epicenter of the Sonoma plaza.
Normally we are not inclined to give shout-outs to just anybody who happens to run their own side-hustle, or write blog posts that seemingly border on the advertorial landscape; but we do like to prop up like-minded Sonoma locals when appropriate. Sonoma is a special, unique place and when we meet people that want to showcase the best of what this valley has to offer, we get on board. There are literally hundreds of choices when it comes to places to stay or hotel accommodations when visiting wine country, so you might as well stay small and support local.
The saying goes that “home is where you lay your head” — and that sentiment couldn’t be more true when you stay at the Sonoma Barn Suite. Tranquility abounds on this country retreat with a charming garden path that leads you directly to your secluded wine country oasis. From your space, you can enjoy beautiful views overlooking the walnut trees and vineyards. To help you settle in, the refrigerator has been stocked with various beverages and Susan even invites you to share the bounty in their organic garden. If the produce is ripe during your stay, you are welcome to pick a bag of fresh tomatoes, peppers, and basil. How cool is that?!
Not to mention, we heard mutterings that if you stay for more than a night or two, there could be a bottle of Ricci wine thrown into the equation.
